Feel every sound

The roar of the potent GranTurismo Convertible's V8The sound generated by the new Maserati GranTurismo Convertible was as carefully designed as each of the car's mechanical parts. In planning the sound system on the stunning new Maserati, our engineers became musicians in creating an audio masterpiece.

From the first moment behind the wheel of the GranTurismo Convertible with the top down, you will enjoy the unmistakable sound of the 433bhp V8 engine without compromising a quality of sound never before attained on a cabriolet.

The GranTurismo Convertible's stereo system, developed in close collaboration with BOSE, derives its sound output from the same high performance systems developed for the Quattroporte and GranTurismo models. Improving the sound quality in a convertible - a car with even less space in which to distribute the specific sound levels and sometimes without a roof to act as a speaker box - was a difficult challenge for the Maserati technicians to successfully overcome.

"Taking the GranTurismo layout as a basis, we started off by redistributing the audio sweet spots", explained Salvatore Mangraviti, the Maserati Engineer in charge of the system's development. "Substituting the rear parcel shelf with the soft top compartment meant relocating the speakers and increasing their number; now there are a total of twelve, one more than in the coupe. The result is that the GranTurismo Convertible's BOSE Surround Sound system has a virtually infinite number of sweet spots: a speaker in the center of the dashboard, two tweeters and two sub-woofers in both doors, a bass box up front under the front passenger seat, two tweeters and two sub-woofers on the inside of each rear panel and a rear mounted bass box fitted with two sub-woofers".

Most special about the new system is the front and rear bass boxes which allow the sound to fill the cabin, even with the top down. "The rear bass box called for specific research into its positioning", continued Mangravati. "The finished version is a unique box that extends behind that seat back and under the rear armrest".

The system is controlled by a BOSE digital amplifier which automatically regulates the volume and equalizes the sound according to whether the roof is up or down. In both cases, listeners experience the same high quality sound.

The package is further enhanced by the AudioPilot system which utilizes a dashboard mounted microphone to monitor noise levels in the cabin and automatically adjust the sound equalization . This is especially important when travelling at speed when the clarity of the sound can still be heard above the rushing wind.

All of the superb sound performance coming from the Bose Surround Sound AudioPilot system is controlled by the Maserati Multimedia System, which is standard on the GranTurismo Convertible.
